Haleakala National Park is open year round. It is busy year round with peaks during summer months and over winter holidays with the majority of the park visitors coming in February.

Haleakala National Park preserves the outstanding volcanic landscape of the upper slopes of Haleakala on the island of Maui and protects the unique and fragile ecosystems of Kipahulu Valley, the scenic pools along 'Ohe'o Gulch, and many rare and endangered species.

Activities to consider while here are but not limited to: backpacking, camping, interpretive talks, horseback riding in the crater, nature walks, star gazing, and swimming in Oheo stream.
